In Matthew 6:21, Jesus connects finances to the heart. We believe that Jesus does not need our finances but that He does desire our hearts.
He is our model for generosity since He gave us life, breath and all things (Acts 17:25) and also gave us Himself as atonement for our sins (1 John 2:2).
When we give to Him, we not only give our resources, which already belong to Him, but we give Him our heart as well.
