He is not simply central to what we do, for that would still not be enough for the one who is all in all.
In everything we do, if Jesus is not present, then it is wasted effort. We are desperately needy for Him.
Our vision is to see Him, our mission is to reveal Him.

To see and behold Jesus.
As a church, we believe that God longs to dwell with His people. That He is looking for a resting place for His presence. We want to be that place. We want to see Him come be with us. Not only come, but stay. To dwell with us. And that in His presence, His people are transformed to become more like Him so they can reveal Him to others. When we see Him, we come to know Him for His eyes speak of Him: an all consuming fire.

Our Mission

To reveal and demonstrate Jesus.
As a church, we believe that the Holy Spirit's passion is to reveal the Son of God, Jesus Christ of Nazareth. We believe Holy Spirit has been poured out so that we may see Jesus, know Jesus, and reveal Jesus as the glorified and risen Lord. We desire to be a people that reveal Jesus through our actions, our words and our lives, all across Chattanooga, whether in our jobs, in our homes, or in the routines of daily life.

Our History in Chattanooga

We began in the summer of 2009 in a living room in Chattanooga and since then have moved to a coffee shop downtown. We are a non-denominational community of Jesus followers, devoted to worship, Scripture, and prayer. We believe God is the generous Father (John 3:16-18), Jesus is the Son of God (Matt.16:16), and Holy Spirit was sent from Christ to remind us of all He said (John 14:26). The full Bible is the inspired word of God and our guide for life (2 Tim.3:16-17). The Holy Spirit and the gifts He provides are still active as they express the life of Jesus (1 Cor.12). God's design for marriage & relationship as one of male and female (Matt.19:4). Since God filled each of these, he dignified them with His diety, meaning we also value them and fight to see them alive and active: the embryo & fetus (Matt.1:18), babies (Matt.1:25), children (Luke 2:42), immigrants (Matt.2:13-15), women (Luke 1:35), men (Luke 1:31), all. 

Our Heart For Chattanooga

We love Chattanooga deeply and believe God's desire is to pour Himself out even more so. Chattanooga is rich with Christian history, some glorious and some disappointing. We know that God's heart is to redeem all things to Himself through Jesus, so we join our hearts desire to His. RiverChurch exists not only for our church body, but for our city — partnering in prayer, serving local needs, and participating in what God is doing throughout the greater Chattanooga area. We desire to see churches lay down their goals and preferences and pick up unity around the person of Jesus to see needs met and people come to know Jesus. We await the day when Jesus unifies us all around the same table at the marriage supper of the Lamb.
